Every couple is different. While a lot of couples enjoy having their big day as a huge family affair, having children at their wedding is not always for everyone.
Of course, you don’t want to upset your guests by telling them that their little ones are not invited to your wedding day, nor do you want to lose guests because of it. This is why it is extremely important to let them know with plenty of time in advance to arrange child-care, and to do it in a respectful way.
Our main suggestion for doing this is by including it in the wedding invitations. Here are a few examples of lines you could include in the invitations:
“While we love to watch the children laugh and play, this is an adults only kind of day.”
“We respectfully request that this is an adult only ceremony and reception.”
“We respectfully request that this is an adult only reception.”
“Although we love your little ones, we request that this is an adults only affair.”
“Although we cherish your little ones, we would request that our wedding remains adult-only. So book a sitter, and dust off those dancing shoes!”
“Please join us for an adult reception at six o’clock.”
“Due to limited space, we are unable to extend the invitation to children.”
“To give all of our guests the opportunity to celebrate without having to worry about little eyes and ears, we respectfully request no children.”
“Please note, this will be an adults only celebration.”
We are hoping that all of the above may be of help to you when deciding to go ahead with a child-free wedding day!
Let us know if you decide to use any of our suggestions!
